Job Summary:

Manages a team of user experience professionals charged with re-inventing consumer centric connected health and digital experiences at WBA. Collaborates with business stakeholders, technical, service design, and design research teams to define and implement the ideal end-user experience over multiple form factors. Directs and provides oversight to the user experience team, which designs and safeguards the optimal information architecture, taxonomy, navigation, task flow and ease of use for the digital experience.The Director is responsible for the development of overall guidelines and procedures that govern the user experience, as well as developing collaborative, efficient, and innovative work practices. Acting as a coach, mentor, connector, and consensus builder is key in this senior-level role within our global enterprise.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and guidance to build a world class user experience team by defining standards, guidelines, best practices, processes and determining how the user experience team interacts with other groups. Advises and makes actionable recommendations to executive management and business groups on strategic “voice of the customer” topics to develop a world class user experience.
  • Acts as the owner of the customer experience and advocate (voice) for the end user in the development of the philosophy and vision for the organization.
  • Oversees the analysis and research around the customer experience, collaborating with the Design Research team and Business Analytics. Ensures the implementation of research results to reduce user pain points.
  • Defines the strategy around the digital customer experience and what is important to the success of the business. Translates business goals into a holistic plan (short term goals and longer-term strategic initiatives) with actionable strategies to ensure ease of use and an engaging experience.
  • Collaborates with business leads, strategists, and product managers to enhance the experience of the customer and to ensure the online customer succeeds in obtaining value from the site.
  • May analyze long-term impact of new or anticipated strategies and decisions.
  • Manages budgets, operational plans and performance requirements for the specified are of responsibility.
  • Responsible for meeting budgetary goals and objectives.
  • Leads team and facilitates communication between staff, management, vendors, and other technology resources within and outside of the organization. Shares highly complex information related to areas of expertise. Interacts with senior management to keep abreast of objectives. Interacts with direct reports and peers in management / customers / vendors to interpret information and improve cross-functional processes and programs. Builds and enhances key internal and external contacts.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of experience in digital design OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 11 years of experience in digital design
  • At least 2 years of experience managing a user experience team.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with usability testing, & A/B testing.
  • Experience participating in and defining user experience processes and using best practices.
  • Experience interacting with internal and external creative Teams.
  • Experience using interpersonal communication and presentation skills to present ideas effectively and strategically present ideas to senior level management and external stakeholders.
  • At least 5 years of experience contributing to financial business decisions in the workplace.
  • At least 5 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership, and/or cross functional team leadership.
  • Willing to travel up to 20% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Interactive Design.
  • Experience working across multi-disciplinary teams, e.g., business stakeholders, technology, product management.
  • Experience bridging across several related projects with the goal of establishing and governing common UX approach and processes.
  • Experience with exposure to employee/internal end users and consumers.
  • Experience working inside large and/or global enterprises as an internal leader or consultant
  • Experience pulling together design research, UX design, and visual design.
  • Experience with adaptive/responsive web and mobile applications.
  • Experience working in an Agile methodology.
  • Experience working across multi-disciplinary teams, e.g., business stakeholders, technology, product management.
