Key Responsibilities:

  • Team satisfaction. Ensuring the engineering team is happy, not understaffed or overworked
  • Coaching, professional development and training. Helping members of the engineering team map out their individual learning and growth plans.
  • Resourcing. Obtaining necessary equipment, cloud services, and software
  • Hiring. Recruiting and retaining top-tier engineering talent.
  • Cross-team communication. Coordinating the work of engineers with other departments within the organization, including product, sales and marketing, finance and operations, and support engineering
  • Reporting to the CEO

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Prior experience as an engineering manager, successfully developing and leading engineering teams, or the motivation and desire to apply proven team development and management methods to building Brighthive’s engineering  team
  • 5+ years proven success at early stage or growth stage tech companies
  • Experience with the following languages: Python, Typescript, Javascript
  • Experience with a majority of the following technologies and frameworks: AWS (Lambda, Fargate, Amplify, Cognito), IaC (either CDK or Pulumi), Neo4J, Apollo, React
  • Familiarity (could be personal experimentation) with emerging tech in AI Agent development, especially the use of langchain, langgraph, langserve, LLMs with function calling
  • Active participation in the broader technology community, through prior contributions to open source projects, tech for good/data for good volunteer initiatives, etc.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and self-starter that operates effectively in and driven by a fast-paced environment, yet understands the importance of relationships and being a team player
  • Ability to present and serve as an ambassador of Brighthive
  • Exceptional and respectful communication, engagement, and negotiation skills, including with senior-level decision-makers
  • Deeply knowledgeable, but constantly striving to learn more, including new technologies and positioning around them
  • Share the Brighthive mission to see society’s disconnected data be responsibly linked and purposefully used as a force for good that increases social equity, efficacy and efficiency.
