As a Staff Software Engineer in our Firmware Engineering Team, you'll be at the forefront of designing and optimizing firmware subsystems required to produce an unparalleled access control experience on the ACS product line. You'll have the opportunity to make critical technical decisions, significantly influencing the direction and success of our products.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Be the technical lead of a small team of firmware engineers, coordinating sprint tasks and helping remove technical roadblocks.
  • Design and implement firmware modules to add new product features and enhance system reliability.
  • Debug and resolve complex hardware-software integration issues, utilizing tools such as JTAG debuggers and logic analyzers to maintain system stability and performance.
  • Maintain custom CG software on embedded platforms using tools like Buildroot or Yocto, ensuring optimal performance and integration.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Hardware, Applications, and Middleware, to troubleshoot and resolve memory corruption, timing, and performance issues, and document solutions for future reference.
  • Participate in direct hardware team interactions for device bring-up and debugging, ensuring seamless integration and functionality of hardware and software components.
  • Influence the technical direction of our product through making critical decisions in the development and implementation of embedded software solutions.
  • Responsible for complying with the security requirements set forth by the Information Security team and the established ISO 27001 Security Roles, Responsibilities, and Authorities Document found in the ISMS Document Library
  • Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams.
  • Protect Chamberlain Group's reputation by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reading professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field of study
  • An advanced degree in directly applicable area of study may substitute for up to two (2) years of experience
  • 10+ years of job-related experience of developing for embedded Linus, with a strong track record of launched products
  • Experience with NXP.i.MX family System on Chip (SoC)
  • Expert in utilizing Yocto/Buildroot Project build environment
  • Project estimation and team leader in an Agile environment


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Linux kernel and Bootloader (U-boot)
  • Proficient in C and C++
  • Customizing vender supplied BSPs for target platforms
  • Strong problem solving, object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and other computer science fundamentals


Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Master's degree in computer engineering or computer science
  • Experience with USB and other device drivers, LCD display integration, vision/camera systems
  • Actively interested in loT
  • Experience in a CI/CD environment
