Accomplishing Ampersand’s mission — transforming the TV industry into one that’s audience-centric, multiscreen and measurable — is no simple undertaking, according to Justin Pau. The senior manager spends his days disrupting the status quo by experimenting, sharing knowledge and learning from his teammates. This continuous evolution offers employees ample opportunities to grow, whether that means taking on a new role or proposing an idea to optimize internal practices. Tailoring DEI initiatives to Ampersand’s needs
Every company has different DEI needs — and as senior director of DEI and employment experience, it’s Ayannah Johnson’s job to determine what those needs are at Ampersand. “A company can do well with gender and people of color in leadership roles, but is the healthcare policy inclusive?” said Johnson. Tailoring DEI initiatives to Ampersand’s needs has led to a conversation led by a trans employee who reached out and an expansion of the healthcare and parental leave policies to accommodate everyone — and those steps are far from the end of Johnson’s four-quarter strategic plan.

Allie Garber

Over the years, Allie Garber has watched her teammates at Ampersand take on new responsibilities, which she considers a reflection of the company’s commitment to hiring and nurturing top talent. Inspired by this, she encourages her direct reports to take the initiative and share their ideas. For instance, one of the campaign managers on Garber’s team recently created a new billing template, which is now being put to use. “My hope is that the rest of the team can see her success and take that energy and put it toward improving our team dynamic and work structure,” she said.
