Founded in 2014, HealthJoy has tried to untangle it via a platform that guides users to high-quality healthcare, with features including a benefits wallet and “healthcare concierges” that can suggest providers and decipher claims. “HealthJoy’s got a really ambitious mission but also an important one,” said one of the company’s engineers. Backing this goal is $48.5 million in funding, including a $30 million Series C nabbed in 2020.

Since joining HealthJoy in 2018, Jaime Carey has worked tirelessly to learn what it takes to excel on the bill review team. As a bill review specialist, she conducted ample research to learn more about billing, coding and various types of insurance benefits, eventually landing a promotion. Yet Carey’s growth journey at the company didn’t end there. Upon strengthening her customer service, verbal and written communication and collaboration skills, she earned her current title. Carey considers herself thankful for the continuous growth and development opportunities she has had at HealthJoy.

Leah Fletcher

According to Leah Fletcher, having a culture that encourages feedback enables HealthJoy to quickly pivot in order to maintain a robust remote-work environment. By leveraging various communication and project management platforms, she and her peers can easily stay up to date on tasks and tackle issues together. Fletcher added that fun Slack channels and employee resource groups, such as one dedicated to women in business, enable employees to connect over common interests and grow in the process. “I’ve learned so much from my teammates, and I feel lucky to work with them,” she said.
