As approved by the Conference of Presidents (COP), the Federal Reserve System (System) has created a Credit Risk Management Support Office (CRMSO) to facilitate an enterprise approach to activities that support the Credit Risk Management (CRM) business line. The CRM business line manages credit risk arising from Discount Window lending and Master Account management (overdrafts and overall payment system risk).
The CRMSO, hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, is primarily responsible for leading the development and execution of strategic priorities and initiatives and facilitating enterprise decision-making.
Additional CRMSO function responsibilities include:
• \tMaking decisions as delegated by the Payments Committee and promoting and driving effective decision making to achieve consistent approaches to business delivery.• \tIdentifying and organizing adequate resources to ensure CRM business groups and initiatives are optimally organized and staffed to support CRM business and technology functions.• \tOverseeing, managing, and reporting on the progress of enterprise projects and initiatives.
The Data Analytics Specialist role works closely with business stakeholders to understand their questions and analytical needs and to develop a strategic plan for effective solutions. The role collaborates with Credit Risk Management IT (CRM IT) to design, develop, and implement business-driven analytical products such as models, reports, workflows, and dashboards. The role is expected to work closely with business stakeholders and the System's technology providers to support data integration efforts while ensuring data is secure, accessible, and trusted to inform decision-making. Deliverables support all levels of the CRM business line at each of the Reserve Banks, the Board of Governors, and executive leadership on the Payments Committee.
Your Responsibilities:

  • Develops the strategy for business-driven data analytics products that leverage both structured and unstructured data assets.
  • Manages an inventory of data needs and articulates the vision for how data analytics can be optimized for the organization. Demonstrates a deep understanding of the business concepts underlying assigned data assets.
  • Identifies and evaluates (including proof of concept) new analytics solutions and techniques for meeting business objectives.
  • Provides advanced enterprise reporting solutions and responds to ad-hoc report requests to support senior executives and CRM business lines in each of the Reserve Banks. Performs rigorous data analysis to discover business insights.
  • Strategizes and plans implementation needs for the business to ensure effective intake processes and adoption of data analytics solutions within the business community. Coordinates with communications and training partners to support adoption.
  • Collaborates with technology partners to enhance data quality standards and incorporate best practices in the areas of data wrangling, data visualization, and data integration; informs design of analytics model/architecture to be built and maintained by CRM IT.
  • Partners with cross-functional data stewards and recommends solutions to resolve issues in data policies, data definitions, data quality, and metrics.
  • Works across CRM products to manage priorities on the CRM product roadmap, identify dependencies, and identify impacts from other System initiatives. May represent the CRM business on System groups to plan across business lines and ensure effective coordination in alignment with the CRM strategy.
  • Builds and maintains key relationships to allow for effective ongoing two-way communication with management and business areas to integrate products, services, and process improvements into business areas' strategic objectives and operations.
  • Provides thought leadership in data analytics disciplines and sets standards and practices to successfully manage a central data analytics business team for CRM. Ensures compliance with deliverable reporting requirements by performing advanced quality data audits and analysis; Maintains/updates business intelligence methods, databases, dashboards, tools or systems.


Your Background:
Education & Experience

  • Master's degree or Bachelor's degree with equivalent experience (major in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Business, Public Policy, or related field)
  • 8-10 years of related experience


Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge: Experience with statistical modeling and data analysis techniques, platforms, software, and languages (e.g. AWS, Tableau, Power BI, R, Python, SAS, SQL).
  • Communications: Communicates in a concise, direct, and purposeful way. Excellent customer service skills and demonstrated ability to interact with anticipated audiences in a courteous, service-oriented manner. Ability to build productive business relationships and work collaboratively to effectively manage diverse perspectives of stakeholders.
  • Decision Making: Work independently on broad assignments or under general directions as to scope or objectives. Ability to create or apply decision-making frameworks around complex/unclear problems.
  • The level of work is considered advanced, and staff must be able to work under minimal supervision. This position has no direct reports.


Other/Additional Requirements:
