Department OverviewThe Cloud Platform Engineering team (CPE) is Motorola Solutions' organization of cloud subject matter experts specializing in the deployment, management, operations, compliance and security of our cloud-based and hybrid solutions. The organization delivers solutions at scale, with efficiencies delivered through common services, industry expertise, and centralized cost management and monitoring. CPE facilitates partnerships with hardware and software vendors, and other technology partners, and streamlines our interactions with their infrastructure and services. We also accelerate cloud development and hybrid deployments and optimize operations, management & cost through scale and specialization with cloud-native services and agile processes.
Job Description

Motorola Solutions is “solving for safer” by building the next generation safety and security ecosystem. That's mission-critical communications devices and networks, AI-powered video security & access control and the ability to unite voice, video and data in a single command center view. And to succeed we need to create a compelling platform offering for customers to run our applications - be it in an on-prem environment, a cloud environment, or a mix of both.

The Cloud Platform Engineering (CPE) team at Motorola Solutions is seeking a Product Manager with a strong hardware and software background who can own and grow the business of delivering devices that enable our customers to deploy critical applications in hybrid environments. The position is responsible for defining and delivering the product roadmap for the entire stack - hardware, platform and connector applications - to meet and exceed the needs and expectations of public safety customers. You will be involved in addressing and prioritizing the needs of large customer opportunities, as well as researching and identifying emerging market needs. Core to the role will be establishing relationships with customers, vendors, sales & marketing, internal stakeholders, procurement teams, executives and engineering teams to own the problem with a 360-degree perspective.

The candidate's responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and execute the product strategy for our cloud edge platform - a solution that enables customers to easily deploy and operate public safety solutions in hybrid environments. 

  • Conduct market research and gather customer insights to identify market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape 

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including procurement, product managers from partner teams, engineering, design, marketing, and sales to define product requirements, prioritize features, and ensure successful product launches. 

  • Lead the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to launch, and ongoing product enhancements, including defining product roadmap, feature prioritization, and release planning. 

  • Define clear product specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria to guide the development team. 

  • Monitor and analyze product performance metrics, user feedback, and market trends to make data-driven decisions and drive continuous product improvement. 

  • Act as a product evangelist, effectively communicating the value proposition and benefits of our edge platform to internal stakeholders, customers, and partners. 

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge. 

  • Manage external hardware and software vendor relationships to align priorities and jointly plan roadmaps

  • Develop and demonstrate a high level of subject matter expertise in all relevant functional areas to help maintain a system-level view during the solution construction process.

  • Track high-level product progress towards enabling market introductions.

  • Ensure backlog and goals for each team are maintained and current.

  • Be the face of the team with executives around the company to showcase the value prop and progress against the program’s goals.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years experience in product management and 5 years Industry experience in an engineering or product management related discipline.

  • At least 3 years experience delivering enterprise software solutions to large customers

  • Experience and knowledge of core technical concepts required for this product line - server and network hardware, virtualization, kubernetes, enterprise integrations, etc.

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field. MBA is a plus. 

  • Demonstrated success in delivering complex software products from concept to launch, preferably in an Agile development environment.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Polished presentation skills for internal and external audiences

  • Team player, consensus builder, natural collaborator

  • Strong organization and planning skills

  • Proactive, enthusiastic attitude toward challenging problems

  • Strong decision making and prioritization skills

  • Skilled at developing user personas, problem solving user requirements and user stories

  • Experience with channel, direct, and hybrid sales management

  • Experience in Law Enforcement / Public Safety solutions, software and devices is a plus

  • Experience with enterprise software and devices is a plus

  • Eligible for relevant security clearances where required by customer interaction

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree with 8+ years of professional experience

  • AND 3+ years of product management experience

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
