Job Title: Senior Data Engineer

Location: 222 N La Salle, Chicago, IL 60606

Job Description: Manage multiple projects involving highly scalable and extensible data and BI platforms which enable collection, storage, modeling, and analysis of massive data sets from numerous channels. Play a major role in operationalizing and aligning data and analytics technologies into scalable IT and business capabilities. Develop and implement complex data projects in order to translate business requirements into innovative technical solutions. Build robust and scalable data integration (ETL) pipelines using Python, SQL, Spark, and other AWS/Salesforce cloud solutions. Work with hybrid cloud environments, including both batch and streaming use cases. Develop solutions to catalog and manage vast amounts of data in varying formats including JSON, XML, and Delimited. Document and maintain Big Data systems research and analyze application behaviors to improve performance and stability. Administer and implement Big Data platforms and processes. Work with both SQL and NoSQL data, including data analysis, transformation, curation, encryption, serialization, and de-serialization. Contribute to architecture, design, and development decisions to facilitate the creation of effective technical solutions and services. Collaborate with Data Architects to define the Data Warehouse strategy and ensure actionable business intelligence is provided to key stakeholders and Business Intelligence teams. Develop ad hoc analyses of critical issues that impact business performance and translate the analyses into actionable recommendations or automation opportunities. Analyze data to answer key questions from stakeholders with a focus on what drives business performance. Develop automated test tools and test cases to validate data integrity. Partial remote work is permitted; position is based out of our office in Chicago, IL.

Education Requirement: Master’s degree in Computer Science or related.

Experience Requirement: 2 years of experience as Data engineer or related

Alternate Requirements: In lieu of a master's degree plus two years of experience, will accept a bachelor's degree plus five years of experience in the same fields.

Special Skills: Must have experience in each of the following: 1) Designing and developing automated tools to solve particular use cases; 2) Working with both structured (SQL) and unstructured data (NoSQL), including data analysis, transformation, curation, encryption, serialization, and de-serialization; 3) Working with hybrid cloud environments, including both batch and streaming use cases. Partial remote work is permitted; position is based out of our office in Chicago, IL.
