Route’s employees never stop celebrating — or being celebrated. That doesn’t just refer to incredible events and perks, including ski passes, making DIY terrariums, well stocked snack rooms, cross-office game nights or a day out in a suite at Crypto.com arena. Route also remembers to celebrate on the small scale — providing recognition and thanks for their employees’ hard work. And why shouldn’t they? Between talented employees, solid teams and a product fine-tuned to provide value to their customers and merchant partners, the team has a lot to be excited about. Route is living up to its core values — working together across teams, celebrating big and small wins, and having authentic passion.

What’s KB Burnell’s favorite thing about Route? The parties. “Kidding! Kind of,” she clarified. It wasn’t the parties themselves, but the idea behind them: Recognition. In a fast-paced startup environment, Route’s management never forgets to make space to be proud of their people. That drive to celebrate extends even further, into DEI initiatives — like Route’s annual “Celebrating Connections” event led by the Women’s ERG. This event aims to empower women in tech and e-commerce and bring the whole company together, regardless of if employees are in the office or remote.

I so appreciate that leadership makes it a priority to pause, say thank you for the incredible work you’re doing and re-energize us to keep the momentum going.
OPENING THE WAY
Giving designers the space to design
SVP of Design Nick Allen knows that his team does great work — his job is just to clear the path. “I try to absorb and streamline processes as much as possible,” said Allen, “so that the team can do what they do best: design delightful and useful user experiences for our customers and merchant partners.” Everyone has a voice and can throw themselves into the project that interests them most. As the company moves forward, Allen plans to connect mentors and mentees to provide growth opportunities for everyone — knowing that when the individual gets stronger, so does the whole company.

No matter your tenure or background, creating a space where someone can contribute and be heard is the best possible way to build morale and design great products.
